in the roman languages, to sing is to:
cante (spanish)
chante (french)
canti (italian)
cante (portuguese)
and in chinese, to sing is to
唱(chang)
how fascinating! there must be something about the syllable [a:ng]

must be that you got to open the mouth wide to sing that sound? a most resonant sound among all? :D you should know this way better..

or it may just be a small coincidence. i may not be a european languages expert, but i do know many of them share a very very recent and common origin... right?

coincidence it is, it reflects something about the language lah. like ma is almost uniform cos baby open their mouths and say MAH... you know that kinda things.
